2000 outlook reminders

When I create a task, the "reminder" box is checked by default. The help
section says to go to "tools", "options", "preferences" and uncheck the
default reminder box. I do not have these choices. How do I turn off
automatic reminders?

Actually, I was incorrect, and I am glad you asked what do I see. From
"Calendar", I select "Tools", "Options", and located there is the box to
select/unselect "Reminders". However, no matter if it is checked or not,
when I create a new task, and select a start date, the reminder box checks by
default.
I used to use Outlook 98, and I did not have this issue. While it is not a
MAJOR, but MINOR problem, i hope there is a way to fix this. Your expertise
is greatly appreciated.
