I have a 200 gb maxtor diamondMax plus hard drive that I plan on installing
in my system . I am running windows 98 se. I understand that windows 98 will
not see a drive larger than 137 gb . But can I partition this drive 2 or 3
partitions each partition smaller than the 137 gb limit and use the full
capacity of this drive .

You will probably need to install the Intel Application Accelerator utility
(just Google for it)

I have 2 of these drives installed on my Windows XP system and had the same
problem with them both until I installed this utility.

Partitioning your drive won't make any difference because the partition that
sits over the 137Gb boundary (and any others after it) will not be visible
to the Operating System.

One other advantage to using this utility is that it forces the drive to use
the fastest DMA transfer mode possible. It will also boost any CD/DVD drive
DMA settings to their maximum as well. You *can* change the DMA transfer
mode through Control Panel, but it is not reliable.

This Intel application . Will I have a problem using it with an Anthon xp
2100 processor . And I take it that this app will then let me see all 200
gb's .

I'm using a 200 GB Maxtor drive, a 250 GB Maxtor drive, and an
80 GB Maxtor drive with Windows 98. The 200 GB drive is the
boot disk, though the boot partition is only 4 GB. I do have Intel
Application Accelerator installed, though I don't believe it was
needed for the 200 GB drive, since its hooked up to an integrated
Promise controller. The Promise controller required its own drivers.
I used Partition Commander to partition the drives. I don't know
if Windows 98 could have handled that by itself.
