I downloaded a font from a website and put it in <my user
name>/Documents/Received Files. I unzipped it. It contains a file called
radiohar.ttf, a truetype font file. I want to delete it, but it won't delete.
I am the administrator of the computer. I right click on the file and have
full permissions to do everything. In properites, it says, "The file came
from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer."
Even when I unblock it, it still won't delete.
When trying to delete the file I:
Right click the file and choose Delete.
A Delete File popup appears asking, Are you sure you want to move this file
to the recycle bin?
I click Yes.
A Destination Folder Access Denied popup appears, saying You need to confirm
this operation.
I click Continue.
A User Account Control popup appears. I push a button to tell it that it
should do it.
A popup appears, saying Recycling One Item, and then disappears.
A Destination Folder Access Denied popup appears, saying You need permission
to perform this action.
I press continue, and end up back at this Destination Folder Access Denied
popup again.
I try deleting the next file in the folder. Same thing happens, not
deletable.
I did finally get one file to turn light gray, but I'm not sure what I did
to do this, or what the light gray means. The file does not show in the
Recycle Bin. The properties for the file did not change. The file still
seems to be there and is still readable, even though it is grayed out.
So I decide to turn off User Account Control. I went to the Windows Menu
and typed User Account Control. It showed in the list. I clicked on it and
nothing happens. No error message, no window opens.
So then I search for User, and the window opens. I click turn off User
Account Control for my administrative account even though I don't want to.
It says to reboot. So I don't know if it will finally allow me to delete the
file. I hope I remember to turn it back on before going to the Internet.
Microsoft, I guess I have to agree with people that tell me that they don't
use User Account Control mode. Now I know why. Please fix these types of
problems. Even if I can figure out a way to delete the file, the average
user will not be able to delete the file. I also see you have many other
users complaining about not being able to delete files. Fix this please.
Make it usable for the average user.
Thanks,
Pam Pierce
