16 bit windows subsystem

this box pops up when ever i try to open some programs like quickbooks, or my
scanner program. everything was fine a week ago, i don't know what happened.
does anyone know how to fiix it? this is what the box says:

c:windows\system32\autoexec.nt.
the system file is not suitable for running ms-dos and microsoft windows
applications. choose close to terminate the application.

I had this today. My solution: copy the autoexec.nt in C:\WINDOWS\repair
to C:\WINDOWS\system32.
Worked for me.
