16 bit subsystem

Hello, anytime i try to setup a prgorm from a Cd i get
this message
"16 bit Windows subsystem
C:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt. This system file is
nout suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows
applications. "

What does this mean, and how do I fix it.

I cant us my CD-ROM till i figure this out.
