I have two computers equipped with Win XP / SP2
- desktop computer (XP Professional)
- laptop (XP Home)
I have used 1394 connection succesfully and reliably for almost two years
between these computers to transfer on-location recordings and photos from
laptop to desktop computer... just plug the cable and the network is
working.
However, after running Windows Update after October 12 last month (thats the
last date, when the connection has worked) , the 1394 connection no longer
works on either machine.
I havent't changed any settings...
Control panel->Network Connection-> 1394 conncection:
Connection status for 1394 connection on both computers show:
- no Address type
- no IP address
- no Subnet mask
- no default gateway
Details window shows no details
And "Repair"-button gives an error message (same thing in both machines)
"Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action
cannot be completed: TCP/IP is not enabled for this connection. Cannot
proceed"
ipconfig does not list 1394 connection at all (it used to work as well).
TCP/IP settings for desktop computer:
- IP Address 192.168.0.1
- Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
- Default gateway 192.168.0.1
- Internet connection sharing enabled
TCP/IP settings for laptop
- IP Address 192.168.0.2
- Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
- Default gateway 192.168.0.1
Any ideas?
Already tried "netsh winsock reset catalog" on both machines, but with no
change.
For me this looks like a buggy update, but I don't have any means to
determine which update has caused the problem.
Best regards
Miika
