1394 Net Adapter

Hello All,

It's not a major problem...more of a nuisance. I've built a PC and
everything seems fine, however, there is a 1394 Net Adapter under Network
Adapters in Device Manager. The board is a Giga-Byte 7NF-RZ and all the
latest system drivers, bios updates, etc., have been applied. I've read on
the net that 1394 Net Adapters usually have something to do with Firewire.
This board does not support Firewire. Windows (XP Pro) seems to place this
in the Device Manager on every reboot. I can Delete/Uninstall it but it
continues to resurrect itself every time. Is there something I'm missing
here or will I just have to leave it there?

Thanks!
Mark

Perhaps there is a firewire port on your soundcard. There is on our SB
Audigy cards. In any case, it isn't something to worry about. Just
ignore it.

No Firewire on the sound card. I'm using the integrated AC 97 chip onboard.
But thanks anyway.

Firewire and iLink are alternate names for a IEEE 1394 interface. So, if
your mother board supports IEEE 1394 it does support Firewire or if you are
connecting a Sony device it supports iLink.

Also, If you don't Want this item, Right click and use the
properties to disable it. That comes in handy, particularly
if you use a separate FW card (or even when Mobo has BI FW).
Windows drivers can corrupt if you have a NIC alongside of
FW net controller.
