1394 and network XP config

I can't help but I do have the exact same problem. Generic
card w. VIA chipset, Gigabyte motherboard with Athlon
1800. The hub is present in the device Mgr but absolutely
no response. It used to work perfectly before the WinXP
registry corrupted. I've sinced reinstalled XP & this is
the only outstanding issue.

yup, i ordered a new one (ADS pyro), but i sure would
like to know about this wonder. it would appear that MS
is getting some kickbacks on drivers under the excuse
of "helping it run smoother", but it really doesnt, and
they took most of the self configurators out of the loop.
apparently, we are all supposed to run a certain type
of "new" computer, specific "new" hardware, and certain
drivers "new ones". also, all the old crap dont work. I
wonder if that's how IBM saw all of this back in the day
they left the PC patent open?

Look here IEEE 1394 problems can happen because of PCI
latency problems in VIA chipset motherboards.
