1394 and LAN conflict

I'm having a strange problem with my new motherboard,
which is an ASUS P4S800D-E. The motherboard has only
been on the market for a short time and has onboard
Gigabit LAN as well as a 1394 connection (plus other
stuff).

In any case, I have this issue in Windows XP where when
my computer wakes from Standby, I get a device error next
to my LAN (Marvell Yukon Gigabit Ethernet) in the Device
Manager and all my network connectivity (including the
Internet is lost). At this time, I am NOT using the 1394
but it is enabled and available under My Network
Connections.

Now, if I disable the 1394 connection in the BIOS,
everything works fine (disabling it only Windows XP and
NOT in the BIOS does not fix the problem). When my
computer wakes from Standby, the LAN and Internet work
fine with no device errors. If I go back and re-enable
the 1394 connection in the BIOS then the LAN disconnects
again with Standby.

So I was wondering if anyone could figure out what was
going on here? I have all the latest drivers for my
board and I even spoke to ASUS tech support who offered
to change/fix my board if I sent it to them. Personally,
however, this doesn't sound like "damaged hardware" issue
to me and I don't want to get a refurbished board back
with the same issue. All suggestions on what to try
would be appreciated.
