An interesting collection, but I'd classify it as crippleware.#

I tried a game which specified that the "undo" feature was only
available in the paid-for suite. I have no problem with a game that
doesn't allow you to "undo" stuff -- but making it a payware/freeware
distinction -- in my books -- makes it crippleware.

Thanks for adding this Harvey. The site says "123 Free Solitaire is a 100%
free high-quality solitaire games collection." Naughty, naughty, naughty!

Deliberate misrepresentation methinks.

Thanks for pointing this out.

I thought so, too. (Maybe it was in the small print somewhere, but I
certainly didn't see it.)

(Just as well, really: I had to rip out the last suite of solitaire
games I was using, as I was wasting *way* too much time....I need to
avoid these things....)

I have this game installed and, although I would really like an undo
function, I still think that this is the best free solitaire game that I
have seen so far.

Oh, I agree it's a good game. It's just that given the
freeware/payware difference, it should be billing itself as a "lite" or
"limited feature" form, rather than "freeware".

What about Pysol as a genuinely free, OpenSource solitaire suite? It
nows runs well on my W2K partition.

Oh, please don't tempt me: the attraction the first time around almost
made me succumb again to the Great God of Solitaire Time-Wasting, and I
*must* try to be strong...... ;)

Nothing at TomCat or SpyChecker.

Do you have a cite?

The listing at Son of Spy said it was, I believe, if that's a good
enough reference.

SoS does not list 123 Free Solitaire.

SoS lists a program called Free Solitaire as spyware, as does TomCat.
The homepage of Free Solitaire makes it clear that it is adware but
claims it is not spyware.

Oh, sorry; I must have mis-read it. My apologies.

I understood the site to say that the Pysol DL is 4 meg
but also 'requires' Python Lang which is another 5m?

That's 9 meg vs 2 meg for 123.
Can someone verify or correct this impression?

For the duration of Swen, my address is inoperative.

Yes, but you get a whole lot more than 10 games to play.

I'm upping the version I play with (v4.40) to alt.binaries.freeware. This
version has been compiled for Windows and is only ~3.5mb. Many, many more
games available than any other afaik.

Thanks much! I'm using 4.2, and I appreciate you posting 4.4.

I've changed the subject and put this in a.c.f.g so no one who's
interested in Pysol will miss it.

Your welcome. I'll up an expansion pack of card sets (~10mb) if you wish.
