100% CPU Usage at idle

Pat Nolan

My computer is running at 100% CPU useage when there are
no programs opened. It is running so slow that I can't
run disk defrag or 'WinDoctor' or anything without waiting
forever. My anti virus did find two klez virus files.
Did this infect my hard drive or cause CPU utilization
issues?

Take another look at this, Pat. If the System Idle Process is 100% this
means that the processor is 100% idle, not that the Idle Process is using
100% of the processor.

Pat, I had the same problem caused by Realone Player.
The process evntsvc was hogging 98% or more of CPU
usage. Right click on a blank part of the task bar at
the bottom of the screen to get a menu to activate task
manager. Click on the processes tab. Click on "CPU" at
the top of that column. If the first number is low,
click "CPU" again to sort with the highest useages
first. In my case, evntsvc was on the top line.
Hightlight it and click the end process box at the bottom
of task manager. The problem is acknowledged by Realone,
but it takes some trying to find it. I removed Realone
player from my machine to fix the problem.

Hi,

I am also experiencing this problem as are others
(Courtney, Dick Shrewsbury, Marie, Allen, ogi)

Dick, Allen, and I all get temporarily cured by a restart
of the computer. Do you?

We also have the CPU in the 90% range when it is slow.

Look for posts with subjects of
Slow computer
High CPU usage

I feel like its a new, undocumented virus thingy!
