100% cpu after logon

Well, I've been trying to figure this problem out for about two
week now and still nothing. I read the boards, tried searchgin
but nothing answered my question. I've seen someone
having the same problem and I came up with the same
thoughts as the other guy did but his solution didn't work for
me. As subject said, when I start my computer System Idle
Process takes up 100% cpu and it never stops like it used
to. I'm not sure what exactly caused this but that seems to
be network thing. I'm on a LAN to share the internet
connection, so nothing is being shared between the
computers. Unplugging the network cable gets rid of the
problem. There's also a constant network activity. This is not
a virus though, something is messed up with windows or
maybe some conflict.
Some say taking down Norton AV solves the problem, but
as discovered it doesn't. I also have services that have to
deal with network files and remote users disabled. If anyone
has the same problem and found how to fix it, please let me
know.

Thanks.

If you have really read these groups, as you say, then you know that System
Idle Process using 90%, or more, of the process time is a NON ISSUE!

Definition of idle:
1.. To pass time without working or while avoiding work.
2.. To move lazily and without purpose.
3.. To run at a slow speed or out of gear. Used of a motor vehicle.
100% idle = 0% busy

But it is in fact an issue since that process is not supposed
to take all resource all the time. It just started doing so
recetly and I still can't figure out what caused this to happen
and how to stop it. Your reply btw carries no useful
information towards solution of this problem...

(much snippage)

How do you know it isn't a virus? What av did you scan with, and are you
sure it was using updated definitions? You might also have some spyware
running amok - use Spybot Search & Destroy (www.security.kolla.de) and
Ad-aware (www.lavasoftusa.com), being sure to update those programs
before scanning. Look at the programs that are running - you may have
legitimate ones trying to do updates, like the Windows updater,
RealPlayer, Quicktime, etc. Please post back with details of your
troubleshooting.

The idle process is the CPU twiddling its thumbs because there is
nothing whatever to do. It is normal to see near 100% if the system is
idling with just your check in Task Manager (which might use 2% itself)
