1 unread message on Windows Log In

I can't get this message to go away. I have Windows XP and I use Outlook.
My screen shows "1 unread message" on the login screen under my name. It
will not go away or update! It always says "1 unread message" - whether I
have non or I have 5.

I don't know what program is presenting you the "one unread message" prompt
on the "logon screen", but, try this.

Go do Outlook Express (not outlook) and read your auto-created "Welcome"
message displayed there. Close OE. Then make sure you have read the
auto-created "Welcome" message in Outlook. Close. Try again.

I've turned that display off with TweakUI from Microsoft since it's never
right for me. I think it only works right with Hotmail accounts linked by
Passport to your WinXP login

I appreciate everyone's help. I did go into Outlook Express and remove that
Welcome email (opened it, deleted it, and emptied deleted files). It looks
like, according to that last link, that feature doesn't work with Outlook.
Weird, though, because when I click on that message on the Windows XP login
screen a pop-up shows 1 unread message to the email account I have set-up in
Outlook. (I don't have an account set up in Outlook Express at all). I'll
just ignore it or remove the feature altogether. Thanks!
