1 new e-mail message....not!

On the Windows XP start page (welcome screen?) where you sign into your own
account (the one with all the user accounts listed on it), my account says
that I have "1 unread e-mail message" and I do not. The other day, I let my
friend check her e-mail on my computer, and my computer says that I have a
new e-mail message when in reality it is saying that her e-mail address is
mine. Now, to confuse matters even more, she doesn't have any new e-mail
messages. Please help me fix this, it is very annoying! I don't understand
how my computer is connected to her address and not mine. It has never told
me that I had new messages through the welcome screen ever before. Thanks.

Hi

Download TweakUI from
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp and when
installed go to Programs>Powertoys for Windows XP>Tweak UI - then go to
Logon>Unread Mail - disable it in the right hand pane.

Otherwise the Unread Mail can be disabled via the Registry - navigate to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail\[Youremailaddress],
double click on 'MessageCount' - in the right hand pane - and change the
value to 0(Zero).

***If you do opt for the Registry please 'tweak', please backup the Registry
first. A good program to do this - as well as being able to restore the
Registry - is ERunt:
