1/2 download speed on one xp-pro system

I am experiencing a large disparity of download speed from one xp pro
system sitting beside another xp pro system:
1. System one gets 5101 kbps download & 647 kbps upload.
2. System two gets 2175 kbps download & 650 upload.

What on system two could be the problem? The provider is selling me a 6
meg ADSL signal, and I am very happy with the 5100 I get on System one.

I get about the same speed on both either wired, alone, or wireless, alone.
The offending slow one is a Dell laptop. A third system connected is a
w2k, which gets about 4500 download, but has a longer wired CAT 5
connection, but does quite well.

Go to http://dslreports.com On the menu bar, click on Tools. Then,
click on Tweak Test and run the applet. Fill in the information
requested (if you don't know your broadband speed, just put in 5000 as
your other computer gets those numbers on the same service). If your
RWIN settings are out of range, there is a link to DRTCP. That will
let you adjust your settings. I think you'll notice an big
improvement. :)

I shut down everything ZA Pro, which also shuts down virus and spyware
scanners, and came up with the same results.

"...5101 kbps download"? Network adaptors on both computers identical?
They are not identical, but the Dell also has both a nic and a wireless
adapter, and a 200meg USB adapter I can use, and all three network
devices give the same differences.

I will try your fix after AT&T comes tomorrow and fixes (hopefully) a
DSL glitch at the location.
