Zip files appear as folders

I've not identified a specific patern yet, however
Windows XP Explorer some time shows WinZip files in
folders AND as "subfolders" under the folder they're
located. How does one stop Explorer from showing Zip file
as "folder"?

If you have a third party program like winzip, go to Start - Run and run
the line
regsvr32 /u zipfldr.dll
to turn off the inbuilt treatment of zip files as if they were folders.
This will also stop search going to look for files inside zip files
