When writing letters I like to end them Yours Faithfully, but Word
always suggests Yours truly. How can I change this setting?
The suggestion you're seeing comes from the AutoText entries stored in the
Normal.dot template. You can add your own entries and have them suggested.
AutoText entries are classified by the paragraph style they have when you
create them. Since you want this to be like the Yours truly entry, type the
text
Yours Faithfully,
in a document and format it with the Closing style. Then select the text and
press Alt+F3. Word will ask for a name for the entry, and will suggest a
name that's the same as the selected text. That's OK, or you can select
another name. OKing the box will create the AutoText entry.
Now, when you type enough of the name to distinguish it from any other
entry's name, the suggestion will appear. In this case you'll have to type
yours f to get the suggestion. If you never want to use "Yours truly", you
can go to Insert > AutoText > AutoText, select that entry, and click Delete.
Then you can get the suggestion you want after typing only the first four
characters (that's the minimum).
