When I try to open Default.htm or \setup.exe on Platform SDK CD I get a
MB_ICONWARNING dialog box with the following message:
"Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls
on this page. As a result, the page may not display correctly."

In general, I have seen this on several other sites and zones, i.e.
http://www.nettavisen.no. Will show "The page cannot be displayed" ..
"Cannot find server or DNS error\nInternet Explorer". I know that they do a
redirect.
Every option in the "Security Settings" for "ActiveX controls and Plug-ins"
are set to Enabled. Even overdid my self by enabling this for all zones
except "Restricted sites".

Run XP SP2 and have all updates except the following (Optional)
Microsoft Windows Journal Viewer (Windows XP)
Windows MovieMaker 2
Update for Windows XP HighMAT Support in CD Writing Wizard (KB831240)
December Update for Windows XP SP2 BETA (4)
December Update for Windows XP SP2 BETA (6)

What setting controls this behaviour?

Hi I have been having the same problem. In some site, no matter what the
security setting's are or for that matter in wich zone I put the web site
in, I get the ActiveX message. We have tested it on 5 differents machines
with differents setting, and they all do the same. Here is a URL that
exhibit the problem it had the same effet on all machines with winxp service
pack 2 beta. http://www.sarc.com/avcenter/venc/data/[email protected] . I
must also mentions that we have check true the registry and we didn't find
any setting related except those found in the options panel.

Does anyone know how to restore this setting. It's starting to get really
anoying, for exemple the URL I posted is for the information about the
Mydoom worm on a Symantec website and I thing we should be able to access
it. All machine are up to date with all the fixes post SP2.
