Yet another missing sound icon (vista)

My sound icon is missing, too. However, when I look at the 'Taskbar and
Start Menu Properties', my volume check box on the 'Notification Area' tab is
grayed out, as is my 'network' check box. Any ideas??? This is making me a
little crazy. :)
