xpsp2 won't hibernate

Each one of three of my computers that has had xpsp2 installed will no
longer hibernate.

It starts to shut down those programs running (in the tray) then the process
stops.

Have to fully shut down each time. All are different brands, desktops,
laptops etc.

Anyone else?

Have you tried manually shutting down the running programs first?

But the whole point of hibernation is being able to temporarily suspend what
you are doing WITHOUT shutting down any programs ...
