Ive heard a few people have had problems with SP2 but I never expected it to
be such a time consuming and troublesome job to upgrade XPProSP1 to
XPProSP2. Im finding several apps (such as PowerDVD, Adaware) are springing
various errors since I installed SP2 yesterday. BootXP I can no longer use
and System Mechanic Ive had to uninstall as it keeps crashing XP. Ive never
had any OS instability issues with XP at all until now.

One thing I didnt expect though is that the Cookies, History, Temporary
Internet Files are now also stored in the Docs...\Local Settings\Temp Folder
as well as in their usual places. No biggie but somethings wrong here right?

It certainly sounds like you didn't properly prepare your system for the
installation of SP2. I have not seen any problem with SP2 on my system, and
I do have Adaware which I made certain was upgraded to be compatible with
SP2 before I ever started.

What usual place?

%homepath%\Cookies
%homepath%\Local Settings\History
%homepath%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
%homepath%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5

By usual places I mean (these still exist and seem to work normally):
C:\Documents and Settings\User\Cookies
C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\History
C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

But I now have all these folders duplicated in the Temp folder as well and I
cant delete them:
C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Temp\Cookies
C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Temp\History
C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Temp\Temporary Internet Files

This has nothing to do with SP2. You probably have some sort of malware.

Update your antivirus software and run a full system scan.

Update whatever anti-spyware applications that you have and run full system
scans.

Download, install, run, update and run again. They are all
good, FREE utilities. Make sure you update every program, even if you
just downloaded it. You must have the latest updates. Without updates,
you have a gun without ammo. You also need to use more than one
anti-spyware program. One program will *not* catch everything.

1) SpywareBlaster
[[SpywareBlaster doesn't scan and clean for spyware - it prevents it from
ever being installed.
The most important step you can take is to secure your system. And
SpywareBlaster is the most powerful protection program available.]]
