XPHome is sloooooow

Everything, and I mean everything, that I try to do in XP
is very slow--bootup, launching programs, accessing files,
saving files, everything. I've tried the usual system
tray clean-up, and others, but nothing seems to help. I
honestly think my 95mHz with Windows 98 was faster. Any
ideas?

this may be due to your computer system running other
programs or your computer is running at the minumals or
close to it for Xp
 
What's the specs of the computer?
Do you do regular defrags?
What programs do you have run at startup?
Please explain slow better - your perception of slow might be different from
mine or someone else's.
 
In addition to the other responses in this thread, have you run a virus scan
lately with an up to date antivirus application?
