XPe slows extremely down at corrupt partitions

Hello,

don't know if this is a "embedded"-only problem, but if there is a
partition on the hard disk which is corrupted (not accessible) the
XPe slows extremely down. Start-up needs about 15 minutes, opening the
explorer at least 5. Simply all actions are like super slow-motion.

After formatting the affected partition the speed normalizes
immediately!

How can I prevent this behavior, is there a registry option or
something like this? Thanks in advance.

Stefan,

It depends on what you mean by "corrupted partition". Was it FS corrupted? Or just bad blocks on the disk?
You may want to set up to launch scandisk at boot in your image (search NG for "BootExecute autocheck" on how to do that).

Also, make sure you don't have Volume Shadow and System Restore services monitoring that partition.

PS. Corrupted HDD/partition is not usual thing. End users unlikely want to deal with it. How about a repair procedure if such
happens?
Either automatic (using CD, USB, etc.) or at support.
