what is XP really? in my book it is the most overrated, useless, full of bugs, piece of junk operating system ever created. i have had my computer less than 2 months, and i have refomated, or wrote my HD to zeors at lest 6 times. i cant get nothing to work on ths stupid thing. what a waste of money and time. i cant play my games. i cant use my CD burner. this OS dont let me do anything. i hate it, it stinks, and needs to be pulled of the shelvs.
 
Boy, you have hard times with computers. Either you bought
a defective computer or have too much static electricity in
your body and you're zapping the computer every time you
touch it.

More likely you are an April Fool troll.

BTW, Sam Clemens (Mark Twain) was very literate. I'm sure
he would learn computer very quickly, he did invent a
type-setter.

couldn't agree more. bought this new pc with XP for my kids
who were shit-hot on their old machine with Windows 98.
This is a nightmare. Spend more time fixing the bloody
thing than ever using it for what it is meant for. If XP
was some other piece of electronic kit like a hi-fi we'd
all be entitled to a refund under the sale of goods act

Do you have any specific problem(s) that you need help with, or
are you just venting?

It sounds like an issue of incompatible/sub-standard/defective
hardware, or device drivers, or defective/sub-standard wetware.

Why did you reformat the HD? Why did you write zeroes to it 6 times? Try to
narrow the problem down by the process of elimination. I'd be willing to bet
that your problem lies elsewhere, and is not due to any flaw with XP.

For help from this NG, provide a few details.

And really, Windows XP is a great system. However, if you don't like it,
there are other operating systems (Windows 98 and Linux, for example).
 
It is almost NEVER the operating system that causes these problems. Almost
always it is due to a faulty installation, incorrect settings, wrong or
missing drivers, and/or defective or incompatible hardware.

Yup I think you have it in a nutshell. XP doesn't really
do much that W311 couldn't do. Windows was sold to us as a
facility for running programmes simultaneously, which it
doesn't. It runs a bit of one then a bit of another.

However XP is actually not bad, almost as good as W98 in
many ways, much worse in others, very much reduced
functionality and a horde of useless extras. However BG
needs your money so persevere. Not for long though as
XP2004 is due out at the end of the year and the current
XP will be dropped like the usual hot brick. You will
again be encouraged to pay more for less.

Another case of Rubbish in Rubbish out. The usual policy people employ is
"It can't be anything that I have done". For example writing zeros to a hard
disk is not recommended. It can cause problems (especially since you have
done it six times). Many people are very happy running Windows XP and it
certainly does not need to be pulled from the shelves.

spelling or proper grammar), better luck with fourth grade.
