When i try to start my computer i can hear the fan running all the LEDs are
working, all i get is a blank screen. it is like being stuck in hibernation.
I finally got it started by letting the battery run out, waited for about 6
hours, then it started up. it works fine until i go to either shut down or
restart. Anyone had this problem before?

Thanks

"letting the battery run out"

Is this a Laptop? You were not very forthcoming concerning the details.
Make, Model, Processor, etc.
At this point, with the information you gave, a guess would range from an
incorrect video setting to a virus or even a hardware fault. It may be that
(if this is a laptop) that the video settings are for something other than
the laptop screen. (TV, external display, etc.)

Was an external video device connected?

Start with some information about your computer. We will assume XP, but is
it home or pro? You mention battery, laptop model then? Have you run a
virus scan lately? Come on, if you want an answer, explain your problem a
little more clearly.

Thanks

Hi Glen,
Check for Errors in the Event Viewer for any Error Messages,My guess may be
your Video Card Lose or is going to give way, what your Status of AVs,Adware
all Clean?,check for loose Cables,in Particular the Monitor one.
Good Luck

My computer is a Sony Vaio Laptop, Model PCG-GRZ610, Intel Pentium (R) 4 CPU
2.00GHz. 256 MB of RAM.

When I restart windows takes a long time to save information, then the
screen goes blank. the power is on the fan is working. Windows will not
restart.
