XP Won't Start up in Safe mode...

I have a desktop, and I had formatted it about 2 weeks ago. I got service
pack 2, and then it started freezing on shutdown.

Today, it didn't start up. Instead of showing the desktop, there was just a
blank screen and a mouse pointer. I then tried starting in safe mode. Same
thing happened.

Since I can't start up safe mode, I don't know how I can use System Restore.

Anybody know what's wrong?

Thanks.

1. Start with the Recovery Console to remove SP2 (BATCH spuninst.txt)

2. Then remove it again using the Add remove Programs in Normal boot up mode.

3. Reset the security on all files using the above article. (Very Important)

4. Run "SFC /scannow" from a command prompt (Make sure your XP CD is in the drive)

5. Scan for any Spyware and Adware

6. Download the full 272 meg file or get the CD for XPsp2.

7. Boot into Safe Mode

8. Install the Service Pack 2
