I tried to restart XP after updating MS AntiSpyware

It just loops back to restart after the 1st Windows screen comes up. There
is a brief flash of what appears to be a blue dos screen before it restarts
the process
I tried safe mode, but the same thing happens. The same with Last Known
Config

I tried booting from the XP CD and running Fixboot in the Recovery Console
w/ no change.

Any ideas?

Have you tried a Repair Install?
These liks may be of use:-

How to Perform a Windows XP Repair Install

I tried to run repair from the CD
I booted from CD
Selected set up not repair from recovery Console
Selected F8 on the agreement

Then I got a question on my partitions and selected the OS partition and got
a warning about multiple OS's on a single system
I pressed continue and ended up almost installing new

I never got the repair selection

Have a second look at the
http://michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm link I gave you, he
offers other methods of repairing XP if the Repair function is not
offered.

You may also like to look at the Ultimate Boot CD for Windows
http://www.ubcd4win.com/ this is a bootable CD with CD burning software
sow you should be able to burn your data to a CD in case you need to do
a full reinstall.
