Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help me boot up my laptop running XP.
At the moment when i switch it on it attempts to boot up Windows XP,
gets to the black screen with loading Windows XP Home Edition, then
switches itself off and starts to reboot again. This continues
forever.
Unfortunately the CD/DVD drive is not working correctly so i can't go
through the normal process of repairing through the recovery cd. it
also doesn't have a floppy drive, although i do have a usb floppy
drive.
is this laptop beyond repair or can anyone suggest anything to me?

thanks,
chris

It sounds like you have some hardware failure. Although other factors
could cause your symptoms, since you say the optical drive I'd lean
toward hardware. In that case, you will need to contact the laptop
mftr. for tech support.

To start with, you should press F8 during the early boot phase,
then try to boot in "Last known good configuration" mode or in
Safe Mode.

Well, you do need a working CD drive to repair a windows on your hard
drive.
