Anyone had this problem. New install of XP SP1 on
formatted HDD. Install m/b and video card drivers.
Reboot. Install Windows updates from MS Security Update
CD. Reboot. Install all critical & SP updates (11 in all)
from MS Windows Update site. Reboot. Back to Update site
another Critical update has appeared. Install this along
with drivers (modem and Via) and some 13 recommended
updates. This seems to downlaod them all then install
most of them then fail. When it reboots a SmartWizard MFC
Application (???) window appears asking if I want to send
a report to MS. Send report but every time I reboot it
comes up. Check Installation history on Update site and
it lists a number of failed installs includnig at least
one that appears to have installed OK. Have reinstalled
XP twice and tried different sequences of the above with
same result. I am beginning to suspect hardware! Have
done the same steps on numerous other PCs with no
problems.
