On an XP/win2000 peer to peer network why do some users
on the xp computer see the shared drive on the 2000
computer automatically and other users are required to
provide a user name and password.

Win2000 only grants access to its shared drives when the user name and
password of the person who's requesting access match a user account
that exists on Win2000. If there's no matching user account, it
prompts for a different user name and password.
