I have XP on the C drive; I have 7 on another partion (D). When I boot I get
the choice of Original Op Sys ie (XP) and 7 and 7 is the default.

At some stage I will want to remove XP. What is the way to do this we
ensuring that afterwards 7 is the boot partition. Do I use Disk Management
on 7 or a third party partitioning tool to reclaim the C drive?

Thanks

It depends - which one is your active partition, C: or D:? The Disk Manager
will tell you.
