I have the later version of XP Pro that has service pack1 and roll up
one included. I never had the problem before a month or two ago i have
not added any hardware but ill be dammed if i can figure out what's
keeping it from shutting down i ran the windows repair and still did
not fix it. I messed with it for a month on and off could not get it
so i finally formatted my C: drive and reinstalled fresh and then it
shut down and turned off just fine. I was about half way through
installing drivers and software and it stopped and now it wont shut
down again. the one it stop working on was my HP scanner but i have
had it for over a year and there was never a problem before a month
ago i un installed it and it still wont shut down. It says windows is
shutting down for about 20 seconds and then you can here it shut down
the drives but then it just sits there. I read on Microsoft knowledge
base and all i found was install service pack one which is installed
as well as all updates. If you can help please do.
