My computer has a total of three (3) Western Digital hard
drives. The computer properly shows the C: drive (#1)
that holds all of the application programs, and access to
the C: drive in not a problem.

In addition to the C: drive, my computer has two (2)
additional hard drives that store all of my data files in
a RAID configuration (#2 and #3). The computer has a
total of three (3) hard drives.

The C: drive (#1) properly appears on the Windows XP "My
Computer" window, the other drive (#2) in the RAID
configuration DOES NOT appear on the Windows XP My
Computer window.

Disk Management also shows the presence of the additional
hard drive (#2), but no drive letter is assigned to the
drive and it can not be accessed by Windows XP.

During the boot process, all three drives appear
properly, and the RAID array is functioning properly.
Also, the RAID utility program (FastCheck Monitor
utility) shows the addition #2 and #3 hard drives
properly in the RAID configuration.

The problem is: No drive letter is assigned to the #2
hard drive and therefore Windows XP will not recognize
the additional hard drives that are used to store the
data files. I do not want to lose my data files!

I believe that the solution requires that the additional
hard drives, particularly the #2 hard drive, be assigned
a drive letter, such as "(F)". (I understand that the #3
hard drive will remain invisible in a RAID configuration)

How do I assign a drive letter to the hard drive (#2)
that is obviously being recognized by the system BIOS,
and by Windows Disk Management, but is not being
recognized by Windows XP where it can be accessed to
retrieve my data files? I do not want to lose my data.

Please advise.

Right click on My Computer and select Manage.

On the following screen, select Disk Management.

The drives should show up on the right hand side of the screen, you can then
assign a drive letter.
