When I try to boot my PC it goes into scandisk and then
reboots when that is done. It then comes up and asks if I
want to boot into safe mode, normal mode, etc. If I choose
normal mode it will bring up the XP loading screen and
then after a while it will disappear and reboot the system
again. If I choose safe mode it displays many messges that
look like
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\Windows\afilename.sys
If I try and boot off of some boot disks it gets to disk 4
and says hidusb.sys is corrupted and then has to reboot.
What to try now?

the
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\Windows\afilename.sys
is completely normal so you don't have to worry about
that, now the corrupted sys file is something else...

Do you have any system restore points set up? Hopefully
your computer came setup to automatically do those. I
think that may be your best bet.
