XP wants to burn all of my music files to CD

Hey y'all,

I just re-installed XP Pro and upgraded to WMP 11 (from 9).

When I boot up the PC I get a little yellow dialog box stating that I have
files waiting to be burned to CD. When I click on the dialog box, it opens
a window that has all of the folders from 'My Music' showing.

How do I tell it that I don't want to burn all of these files to CD?

I tried deleting one to see what would happen and it disappeared from 'My
Music'. I don't want to delete all of my music. lol

Any ideas?

Hi Mike,

Open My Computer and right click on your CD burner and select, "Delete
temporary files".

I tried that and I get an error message stating that I 'cannot delete System
Volume Information. Access denied. Make sure the disk is not full or
write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.

Brand new hard drives with lots of room, none of them write protected, and I
don't think the file is in use.

Any ideas?

Hi Mike,

Something sounds amiss there. Just a thought, but maybe copy all your
music folders to another location as a backup. Then go ahead and delete
the folders waiting to be burned to a CD, within the Burn to CD window.
With it being empty, hopefully that will take care of the boot up
balloon. Then copy the folders back to the My Music folder.

Hi Terry,

I tried that and I got the same message about not being able to delete the
system volume.

So I tried to let it go ahead and write the files to CD. The first time that
I tried to burn the file, the comp said that I did not have enough room on
the CD to burn the file.

I tried it again and it seemed to work until the end of the CD writing
wizard when I got the same error message about not being able to delete the
System Volume information. However, there was an 80kb file written to the CD
called System Volume Information. This from a folder that looked empty. Yes,
Show Hidden Folders is checked.

Next I tried a quick format of the offending drive, but still no joy. It
still said that I had files to burn to CD from an 'empty' folder.

I also tried a full format and that didn't help either.

I'm confused. lol
