Hi, Windows XP Media Center Edition is a subset of Windows XP Professional.
Meaning that it has all the features of Windows XP Professional in addition
to the features of the MCE OS. Windows XP Media Center Edition can only be
bought on specific MCE machines from OEM builders.

Yes, they are basically the same. However Media Edition contains
extra features not in regular XP.
