xp upgrade

I need to uninstall some software before I upgrade. One listed as a problem is HSP56 WDM Device in the control panel. I checked it out and it says its my micromodem drivers. If I uninstall will this disable my modem for connecting to the internet
 
yes it will, but in XP finishes installing it should have loaded the proper
drivers to run the modem...

Yes , the modem will not work without the driver. After Xp install is
complete , this site might have the xp driver that you need. Jym
