xp upgrade

i tried to install xp home edition(upgrade) over windows
me. i get a message saying it does not recognize any
windows o.s. on my computer and i should place my me cd in
the cd drive. my computer came with me already installed
and i don't have a copy cd. somebody help, please

Then you don't qualify for the upgrade. Either contact your PC manufacturer
for a copy of the ME CD, or purchase the full licence. What if the hard
drive were to fail - how would you install XP on the new one?!
