I need remote access between 2 computers, but only have
XP home on both systems. Do I have to upgrade both
computers to XP Pro to use remote access? AND How
difficult is the upgrade from XP Home to XP Pro?

Upgrades ez, just insesrt Pro disk clik "Upgrade"...ta-da!!!, cept for the
price of "Pro"...thats not too ez, if your connected both via a LAN, why
don't u just do the Network Thang!! Insert your XP home CD, when window
comes up klik on "Perform additional tasks", then "Setup home or small
office network", it starts an infamous MS "wizard", follow prompts, thats
probably the easiest way for the techno challenged!!!!!

You could use Remote Assistance. The downside is someone at the Novice end needs to give the Expert
permission to both view and control the Novice desktop.

Otherwise an alternative is UltraVNC. Get the server and client software from...

Upgrading from XP Home to Pro should not be difficult. You can purchase the XP Pro Upgrade edition
from your local retailer for less than a full version...
