I'm 1000 miles from home and had to install XP Home
Upgrade over my ME in order to acquire XP's HyperTerminal
program. Hyperterminal worked well, but I've now lost my
ability to open MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint,
Access, etc. Other programs I've opened since the XP
upgrade seem to work fine.

When I try to open a MS program, I get a message something
like "This program must be installed to run. Pls run
Setup from the location where it was originall installed."

I don't have all my original CD's with me and am totally
dependent on these applications while on the road (am
working in a remote location in the middle of the Mojave
Desert). I'm really stuck - is there anything I can do?
I need the Hyperterminal to upload data from an external
instrument this week, but also have a proposal due
tomorrow in Word and need Outlook to send it.

Thx.

Gavin

Unfortunately, you'll need your original Office installation CD
to reinstall your Office programs. There is no other way to repair
Office without the CD.

Until you can get back to civilization, you can download one of the free
office clones that will save files in Word format (try openoffice.org). As
far as sending email, you should have outlook express. Not quite the same,
but it should be good enough.

The XP Upgrade Advisor tells you that after upgrading to XP, You will
