I am considering upgrading from 2000 to XP Pro and was
curious what I would be facing if and when I need to
reinstall XP. I wasn't sure if the upgrade version would
allow me to reinstall, for instance, if I did a reformat
of my hard drive. Maybe I should just buy the full XP?

If xp failed and a reinstall was needed,if xp isnt intact,it would ask
for verification of previous windows cd,install cd-5-10 sec.,it verifies,
remove 2000,reinstall xp cd,continue on with reinstall.

You can do a clean install with the Retail Upgrade version of Windows
XP Pro. You will need to have the original CD for your Windows 2000
(or another qualifying product such as Windows 95/98/Me) available to
insert briefly during the install process as proof of your eligibility
to use the upgrade version.

Good luck
