XP Updates

What's up with Windows XP updates? I installed XP Prof. and it ran
fast before the updates. After I installed all the XP updates, my
system runs slow. Now my Windows 98 runs faster thin Windows XP. What
kind of screw-balls we got at Microsoft? Supposed to make a system
run faster not slower.

What can I do to get my system running faster besides uninstalling all
the updates?
