Bert

I thought windows xp had a problem so i tried
reinstalling it. however as i had 2 hard disks it
installed on other hard disk, d: instead of over the
files in c:.

i solved my continuous restart problem as my card did not
have sufficient power.

my question now is i've deleted the windows and program
files in d:. but when booting up the computer i still
have to choose between the 2 OS installed. how do i
remove this? do i have to edit the registry or?

Hi Bert,

You would have to edit the boot.ini file. Right-click My Computer, select
Properties>Advanced tab, click on Settings button under Startup and
Recovery, click on Edit button. Ensure that the default= line refers to the
XP installation that is on the C drive, which probably looks like this:
default = multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS)
Under [operating systems], delete the line that refers to the XP
installation that was on the D drive, which probably looks like this:
default = multi(0)disk(1)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS)
Edit the timeout = line to be timeout =0
Go to File>Save then File>Exit
