I tried loading XP on my computer again and it keeps
telling me error on 386! Does it think my less than 1
year old computer is a 386!?!? Help please!

What is the exact message? At what point does it give you
this message? Try to update your BIOS.

There's an installation folder called I386. It's not identifying your computer. You must not be installing XP correctly. Do a clean install by booting to the xp cd and reformatting your drive first.

By doing this you will delete all of your data.

Please provide the complete *verbatim* text of the error message.

XP does not think your computer is a 386. But there are several
possible reasons why the numbers 386 could appear in an error message,
such as a problem with a file in the \I386 folder, which is one of the
main installation folders used by Windows XP, Or if this is an upgrade
install it could be regarding a compatibility issue with a device
driver file that has a file name ending in .386. There are other
possibilities as well. The error message text will help sort out what
is going on.

Good luck
