XP sysprep mini setup continuously reboots system

I have found that the XP Sysprep with the mini setup
option, causes the machine to go into a reboot loop after
inputing the Computer Name. When not using the mini
setup, the setup works fine. I have also found that the
problem goes away if you leave all security settings
defaulted. So if its a security setting I have no idea
which one (but if it is a security setting why does it
only affect the mini setup?).

Any solutions to this that may be out there, would be
appreciated.

Thanks,
BJ

Hi!

I have similar problem but no solution :(

After using XP Sysprep in order to clone the existing HDD
and replacing it with brand new I have noticed the same
problem. After entering the computer name setup.exe gives
an error and forces to rebooting computer.

What do you mean leaving all the security settings defaulted?

Also anybody knows if there are any instructions how to
return the original HDD and XP settings back to the state
before running Sysprep in the original HDD? I found one
instructions for Windows 2000 but those seem not to work.

All the help appreciated! Thanks in advance!

I figured out the problem today. In my case I had changed the TELEPHONY
service setting from the "default" of MANUAL to DISABLED. After putting that
service back to MANUAL, the rebooting problem went away. You may want to
check your specific setting on that service. Let me know if this was also
your issue.

Thanks
BJ
