Hi
Can anyone help me. the problem is that as windows xp home starts it gets to the bit when the green line goes along the screen and then restarts. I have a copy of the sasser removal tool and blocker on CD but can not get far enough to start dealing with it

Can anyone help me get into the system to allow me to apply the upgrades

many thanks

Turn on the computer and start tapping the F8 key rapidly when the
first information of any kind shows on the screen. Keep tapping
rapidly until the Windows XP Startup Menu appears and choose Safe Mode
from the Startup Menu.

When it has booted in Safe Mode then you should be able to install the
items from your CD. Unlike Windows 95/98/Me; in Windows XP the CDROM
drive is usable in Safe Mode.

Also download Stinger from http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger and save it
to a 3.5 inch diskette or CD. Run it on the problem computer a.s.a.p.
- it will detect and remove 41 the most common of the current virus
crop, including Sasser.

Good luck

Thanks but still a problem. when I try safe mode the same restart happens !

Yuck!!!!!!!!!!

Do you have a Windows XP Installation CD or is yours a "System
Recovery" disk that came with the computer?

If you have a Windows XP Installation CD and if you also have the
Product Key for it (25 characters) then your best bet at this point is
to do a Repair Install as per the instructions at
http://michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

Good luck
