Hi
I have had XP & linspire running on 2 partitions on my HD
I have deleted the linspire partition & made the XP into full size of
the HD
the problem is when it boots it goes to a Linspire splash screen where you
have
numbers 1-4 log on options ----
number 4 being XP which i click & Xp boots with no problems
I want to do a normal XP boot & piss the linspire start up off , as
deleting the partion should have deleted the Linspire O/S
boot ini looks as normal

[boot loader]
timeout=15
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP
Professional" /FASTDETECT

thanks for reading

That will have replaced the regular 'Master Boot' code in the very first
sector of the disk. Two ways to put standard code back

Quicker, if you have a Win 98 or ME Startup floppy around, boot that
(minimal boot) and run
FDISK /MBR

Boot the XP CD and, instead of Setup, take the immediate R for Repair.
Assume any password requested is blank, and TAB over. Give
FixMbr
