Clean install of Windows XP computer is starting like a 2000 machine. When
you turn the computer on there is a pause and then the White bar from Win2k
appears at the bottom. From there WindowsXP starts normally. (no other XP
machines are doing this) What could be causing this and how do I get rid of
it. I disabled hibernation to see if that was the culprit but it is still
happening.

Many thanks for any help.

There is nothing wrong with your start-up.

It should be POST
white bar - really fast if visible at all
Windows XP logo with moving 3 dots in bar
Login screen

Also unless you are an employee of the registered holder of the domain name
provided.com you must not use their domain as your fake e-mail address -
you are generating unnecessary SPAM to their mail systems. The use of
someone's address and the causing of increased junk mail to their domain by
your actions are offences under various legislations.

Before you use a fake address check to see that the domain is NOT
registered. Use a WHOIS service such as

Other machines could be using Wlnotify.dll. Wlnotify.dll is the Common DLL
to receive Winlogon notifications.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\system
Value Name: VerboseStatus
Value Type: REG_DWORD
Value Data: 0 or 1
0 = No messages
1 = Verbose meassages

Or a Group Policy.

Verbose vs normal status messages
http://www.boyce.us/gp/gpcontent.asp?ID=9

With that set, the system displays status messages that reflect each step in
the process of starting, shutting down, logging on, or logging off the
system. You do not get the fuel guages loading.
