XP Starts Different

On all the XP machines I have seen, they start with the Windows XP screen.
However, on a newly installed computer, fresh install, the computer starts
briefly like Windows 2000 (A black screen with the white progress bar at the
bottom) and then switches to the XP screen.

Is this supposed to happen on some comuters or is something wrong with the
setup.

Thanks

Could be that the Hibernation feature has been configured and that upon
'startup' the machine comes back out of hibernation.
The behaviour is then just as you describe.
Check into your Control Panel, Power Options, Hibernation tab.

Hi Mary,

The black screen with progress bar is normal when you start Windows XP
operating system however if the system goes directly to XP screen it means
that in other system the 30 sec count down has been set or Hibernation mode
has been set.
