Hi,
Using XP Home, 512K Ram, 1.8Ghz Athlon.
When I go to 'Start>All Programs' and try to choose an application, my
screen freezes momentarily whenever I move the mouse over an item which has
an arrow on the right. Instead of displaying the next step of the menu tree
I get a beige coloured box and my pc hangs for a while. After 5 - 15 seconds
it unfreezes and displays correctly.
It only happens once per menu tree item per boot. That is, once it has
worked out what to put in the box then it will remember until the next time
I switch on.
It appears to me that the start menu tree information should be remembered
permanently and updated when new items are added. In my case this info is
not being stored and so XP has to go looking for it each time I select an
item which has more than one level of menu.
Weird but unbelievably frustrating.
Many thanks in advance for any help,
